If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you are ready to be baptized. Baptism is your opportunity to show others that you have been transformed by accepting Christ and are now walking with him. Because Jesus instructed us to be baptized, baptism is also an act of obedience. While it is not necessary for salvation, it demonstrates submission to God and an intention to live for him.
Should I Be Baptized?
Baptism isn’t required for salvation, but is the first step of faith for believers. The baptismal waters don’t save anyone. It’s Jesus that does that. Baptism is a picture of the work that Jesus has done in a person’s heart.
Baptism illustrates Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) It shows our new life as a follower of Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17) Baptism doesn’t make you a believer, it shows that you already believe. Baptism doesn’t save you; Jesus does! Baptism is like a wedding ring, signifying a relationship rather than forming that relationship.
At Berean, we baptize by immersion. That’s the example we see throughout Scripture, and is the basis for the meaning of the word “baptize,” which means to immerse (or dip under) in water.

Berean Transformation Stories
Making Your Video
One of the most powerful aspects of baptism at Berean Bible Church is the transformation video shown right before your baptism. The video gives you the opportunity to share how you came to know Christ as your Savior and how he has been working in your life.
Prerecording allows you to do as many takes as necessary while sharing the message you have thoughtfully and prayerfully prepared ahead of time. Baptism is meant to be a public profession, and it is an incredible opportunity to share God’s message of redemption with thousands of people in person and online. We have witnessed the life-changing effects these videos have had on people’s lives.
Another important reason we do the videos is that we as a congregation grow in our faith by watching these stories. They allow friends, family, and even those you don’t know to celebrate the amazing transformation Christ has worked in your life.
Some people are nervous about taping their stories, but we work hard to make the process both simple and fulfilling. We are happy to provide you with guidelines and information to help you prepare for your filming. After you apply, we will schedule a meeting with the you, where we go over everything you need to know about the baptism process and the videotaping. The video will be taped on the day of your meeting, which will generally take place the week before your baptism.
We want baptism to be a meaningful and enjoyable experience, and we look forward to walking through it with you! If you have any questions or need help preparing your story, please contact Tom Sanford at 607-656-8413 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
