Sermon Summary: Would you just toss your car keys to a child and say “you’ve got this, you’ll figure it out”? They need more than access to great tools they need maturity, training, practice, and a license. In our digital age what if we are asking our young people to navigate highways of adult maturity and responsibility without training for success?
Title: Be Screen Smart
Big Idea: Help young people safely navigate the digital jungle.
Know: Screens are morally neutral, media is not.
Be: An example of digital wisdom.
Do: Equip Next Gen with screen guardrails.
Icebreaker: Share your most used or favorite emojis and why.
Discussion: Use some or all of these questions as a starting point, not a checklist, to facilitate a conversation that helps people grow deeper with God and each other…
- What was your biggest takeaway from this message?
- How do screens and media shape our behavior? What are some examples of how social
media platforms influence user behavior? - What effects of excessive screen time you have observed in yourself and others?
- Read and discuss 1 John 2:16-17 and Romans 12:1-3. In what ways can we apply these
principles to our use of technology and media? - What steps can we take to model healthy screen habits for the next generation?
- Discuss Deuteronomy 6:6-9. How could this perspective on faith and life help us
become influencers of the next generation and their use of technology? - Discuss ways to foster open communication and trust between adults and young
people as a foundation for digital mentorship. - Share some examples of guidelines or guardrails you have used to help yourself and
others with technology. What worked well, what didn’t? - What step will you take this week toward healthy screen use?

GENEROSITY
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY
Our comfort zones can keep us from enjoying new and different experiences. At Berean we’re invested in creating environments where people can grow and be known. Each week in homes throughout our area people are gathering for meals, fellowship, accountability, and prayer. When you take that step out of your comfort zone growth can happen. This was Brian’s experience when he hesitantly stepped into a connect group at the Aston’s house. He is so glad that he did, together they have completed 101 Grow and he’s benefitted from it.
Thank you for investing in making more and better Jesus followers in homes every week. It is making a difference in lives. This week Bereans financially gave $15,088.50 toward our mission and $220 to meet needs in our communities through the Compassion Fund. Your gifts help us support our connect groups in homes each and every week. Together we are making more and better Jesus followers.
If you’d like to invest in our mission financially, you can do so securely at bbcTRANSFORM.org/give.
Gifts by check can be mailed to our Central Office:

NEWS & EVENTS
We are so excited to be talking about reaching the Next Generation. We want to see kids and teenagers embrace a faith that is there though the good and bad of life, and so we want to keep the conversation going even after this message series is done. And we believe that reaching the next generation is going to take long range conversations, as your kids grow and short-range conversations dealing with what you as parents, mentors, and followers of Jesus serving in our kids and student ministries are seeing. So on April 28th our Family Ministries Team is Hosting the first F.M. Conversations night. You’ll be able to hear from some of our team and people at Berean who are mentoring kids and teenagers and we want to hear from you and get you around tables with others who are passionate about reaching kids and teenagers, some of whom live in their homes! We look forward to continuing this conversation and seeing what God does, and we hope you will be a part of it!
Greene, Bainbridge, and Hillcrest only.
(Cincy is having theirs 4/21/24).

We value being Kingdom Minded. God’s kingdom is bigger than us, and we love to partner with missionaries, ministries, and organizations that share our mission.
All our campuses feature kids programming during worship gatherings for ages 0-5th grade.
Launch is our weekly gathering for students in 6th-12th grade. Our goal and passion is to help students build relationships and take steps in their faith journey. We do this with fun games, biblical encouragement, and relational small groups with godly mentors.
We believe that life is better connected. Connect groups are one of the best ways to get connected with your faith family. So start making connections by joining one of Berean’s Connect Groups. There is a group for you. Join one today!
Everyone has a next step. What’s yours? Whether you’re a brand new follower of Jesus or you’ve been doing this for years, we encourage you to give Berean’s Growth Process a try. Check it out, grab a book, take your step, and grow your faith.
GREAT IS THE LORD! HE IS MOST WORTHY OF PRAISE!
NO ONE CAN MEASURE HIS GREATNESS.
LET EACH GENERATION TELL ITS CHILDREN OF YOUR MIGHTY ACTS;
LET THEM PROCLAIM YOUR POWER.
